About the Program (18 Credits)
This program is intended for graduate and postbaccalaureate mental health professionals who wish to learn about: - The intricacies of opioid addiction and its impact on public health
- The physiology, psychology, and neurobiology of opioid addiction and recovery
- The medical and psychological interventions for opioid addiction and recovery
- MAR and its effects for individuals, families, and communities
- Support for opioid users and those in recovery
The certificate leads students with the required background to Indiana licensing in addictions or professional continuing education. The program is intended to prepare students for the licensure exam in Medication Assisted Recovery. Admission Requirements
Applicants are required to meet the general admission requirements for graduate admission. In addition, all applicants must: - Complete a separate Addictions Counseling Certification application for admissions, even if they are in a Purdue University degree-seeking program (required by accreditor)
- Have a Criminal History Check before admission. Applicants do not need to hold any licenses in the mental health field to be eligible for admissions to this certification program
- Sit for an interview with faculty.
