About the Program
Transition to Teaching programs are designed to enable those who already hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution to more easily transition to education without requiring an additional degree. Program Eligibility
- Earned Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 from an accredited institution
- Submitted the Initial Inquiry Form with the School of Education and Counseling at PNW
- Pass the content competency exam for Secondary Education candidates: See list of state required content Praxis exam in the area you want to be licensed to teach. Elementary candidates will be expected to pass 4 state required elementary Praxis exams spaced throughout the program, therefore elementary candidates do not need to pass an initial Praxis exam for eligibility.
- Once eligibility has been established, candidates will apply as a Graduate student for admission as a non-degree seeking/teacher licensure candidate at PNW.
Program Requirements
- Complete the Degree Plan of their desired licensing age range (elementary or secondary)
- Pass all required exams for license
Secondary Plan of Study (18 Credits)
Participants in the T2T program will complete the following 6 courses, plus an interview with program faculty: Elementary Plan of Study (24 Credits)
Below courses are listed as undergraduate courses as equivalent graduate courses have not yet been created to implement changes in Science of Reading and Mathematics requirements from the state** Most courses ONLY available dureing the day in a face-to-face envirnment. |
