Credit Hours: 3.00. An anti-racist feminist examination of literary and non-fiction texts of the U.S. written by women, men, and transgender and gender non-conforming people. Emphasizes how authors’ ethnicity and gender inform their writing and influence their literary works. Also considered is the influence of intersecting social locations such as class, religion, immigration and citizenship status, sexuality and disability/ability. A major purpose is to introduce students to varied cultural and gendered voices’ discussions of interrelationships between social institutions and the authors’ works, status and roles.
