About the Program


Apply Now We live in a visual society.  The concentration in Visual Communication gives students the opportunity to explore a visual world.  Visual Communicators combine words, images and ideas in original ways to convey information.  The concentration emphasizes real-world problem solving, contemporary creative thinking, design methodology, technique and skill development, industry standard computer technology, and practical ability.

Degree Requirements


  • 120 Credit Hours
  • Minimum grade of B required for the following courses: AD 10500, AD 10600, AD 11200, AD 11300, AD 22800, AD 22900, AD 30102, and AD 32800; Minimum grade of C required for Free Elective courses; Minimum grade of C- required for the Individual and Society course of choice
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 required for graduation
  • Certain courses may only be available at one campus location

Note 1: Freshman seminar requirement also met with any other PNW Freshman Seminar course from 1-3 credit hours.

Note 2: Modern Language Requirement, must complete 4 semesters of the same language - Choose from ASL, FR, GER, JPNS, or SPAN

Note 3: Free Elective: Choose two (2) 300-level or higher within AD, COM or CGT.  .  Once you use a course for this section, it cannot be used for other sections.

Note 4: Select from:  COM 21200-Approaches to the Study of Interpersonal Communication, COM 32000-Small Group Communication or COM 32400-Introduction to Organizational Communication.  Once you use a course for this section, it cannot be used for other sections.

Note 5: Select from: AD 25500- Art Appreciation, COM 24000-Introduction to Oral Interpretation, MUS 25000-Music Appreciation, THTR 20100-Theatre Appreciation or THTR 30800-The History and Development of the American Musical Theatre.  Once you use a course for this section, it cannot be used for other sections.

Note 9: The special topics for AD 29000, AD 39200 and AD 49100 require pre-review and pre-approval by the tenured VCD faculty.
