Credit Hours: 3.00. This course introduces general construction laws and regulations and legal procedures relevant to construction projects. The course covers wide-ranging legal aspects during a construction project from planning, design, engineering, and construction phases through the post-construction phase. Topics in this course include typical legal aspects in the construction industry; contractual liabilities from owners, design professionals, and contractors’ perspectives; common issues for disputes and claims; suggestions to resolve legal arguments; and ethics in the construction industry.
