Credit Hours: 3.00. Defines the nature of medieval Holy Roman Empire in the early modern era. Examines after 1806 the development of German nationalism and the unification movements; the position of the Germans of Austria; the period of German unity under the Hohenzollens, Wimar Republic, and Hitler; and the post-World War II division and reunification of Germany.
