About the Program (120 Credits)


The Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) is an innovative new program at PNW designed to train scholars and practitioners to use psychological science to provide clinical assessment, diagnosis and intervention services. This program will prepare you to work in a wide variety of settings to positively impact your clients and communities. The state-of-the art curriculum and clinical training sequence combines contemporary mental health issues and technological advances with well-established theoretical foundations and clinical best practices.

Admissions Requirements


  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university prior to registration as a graduate student
  • 3.0 GPA (or equivalent) from undergraduate institution
  • Transcript(s) for every institution of higher education attended
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation (at least two from an academic mentor/instructor/advisor)
  • Resume/CV
  • Statement of Purpose 
  • Personal History Statement
  • GRE-Psych Subject Test OR Grade of C+ or above in each of the following undergraduate courses (or equivalent):
    • Intro/General Psychology or equivalent (e.g., AP credit)
    • Developmental Psychology
    • Abnormal Psychology
    • Statistics
    • Research Methods
  • It is recommended, but not required, that students have some type of “real-world” volunteer, internship, or work experience in the psychology/behavioral health field.
  • Criminal Background Checks: Criminal background checks are not part of the application process but will be required prior to enrollment in the PsyD and MS programs, and may have an associated fee that will be the student’s responsibility. NOTE: criminal history does not automatically exclude an applicant from consideration for admission into the PsyD and/or MS program.
  • International applicants will also need to provide proof of English proficiency and any additional admission documents (diploma, etc.) which may be needed, per Graduate School policies. Graduation Requirements


  • Final cumulative grade point average of a “B” or better on the approved Plan of Study.
  • Minimum grade of “B” in all required courses
  • Successful passage of comprehensive exams
  • Successful completion of doctoral project
  • Successful completion of clinical training sequence (9 practicum courses and approved pre-doctoral internship)
