TECH 50200 - Smart Energy Grid Credit Hours: 3.00. Design, operation and management of smart energy grid. Study of operating principles and models of smart grid components, including distributed energy sources and distribution feeder components, communication infrastructures for smart grid operation, advanced metering infrastructure, advanced control methods and demand and response management. Other topics include the distribution feeder analysis, impact of smart grid component integration on grid operation and the evaluation of grid reliability. Prerequisite: Graduate student status in the College of Technology or in another school (with appropriate objectives and preparation) and leveling courses may be required based on the student’s undergraduate degree. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer.
