Credit Hours: 3.00. This course will introduce students to evidence-based theories of health behavior change and practical techniques, tools, and interventions to apply them among clients and patients. The primary outcome of this course will be to produce an evidence-based plan of action to help promote health behavior among future clients and patients. This course is appropriate for any student interested in promoting health and wellness behavior but is most applicable to those pursuing health-related careers. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Explain the factors involved in and the process of health behavior change (generally and for specific health-related behaviors such as diet and physical activity) using the major models of health behavior.
2. Identify sources of problems in healthcare delivery (e.g., health literacy, physician-patient communication) and ways to address them.
3. Appraise research findings critically in Health Psychology.
