Credit Hours: 3.00. Screening and analysis of selected Latin American films with readings and discussions relative to their historical, social, political, aesthetic, literary, and linguistic contexts. Conducted in Spanish. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Interpret Latin American film production with attention to social and cultural detail. 2. Apply basic theoretical approaches in the interpretation of films created in Latin America. 3. Use basic critical methodologies and appropriate critical idiom and research protocols in the study of cinematographic production. 4. Analyze the historic and contemporary cultural and social context of film production in the region of Latin America. 5. Develop familiarity with major Latin American creative directors, screenwriters, actors, and films. 6. Employ writing skills in Spanish from the conception of an idea, through drafts, to a final copy. 7. Demonstrate an understanding of instructor’s feedback by being able to explain why the instructor’s corrections to their written work are necessary.
