POL 31600 - Family Law Prerequisite(s): POL 10100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- OR HDFS 20500 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D-
Credit Hours: 3.00. This class provides an Introduction to basic concepts in family law including formal and common-law marriage, domestic violence, dissolution and property distribution, child custody and the parent-child relationship. Focus will be on laws of Indiana. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand basic concepts and terminology in family law.
2. Demonstrate comprehension of relevant appeals decisions and statutory regulations regarding family law, with a focus on laws of Indiana.
3. Perform legal research.
4. Apply these concepts and legal regulations and research to changing, specific cases arising under Indiana law.
