IET 35200 - Operations Management Prerequisite(s): MA 14700 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D
Credit Hours: 3.00. This course provides an understanding of the concepts involved in design and organizational management of manufacturing and service systems. Topics include manufacturing strategy, inventory systems, work analysis and design, production planning, quality management, process design, and lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Statistics and statistical methods will be used in analysis. Case studies and articles integrate these topics and highlight managerial implications. General Education: Technology Course Learning Outcomes 1. Develop an understanding of and an appreciation for the production and operations management function in any organization. 2. Understand the role of inventories and basics of managing inventories in various demand settings. 3. Apply customer-driven engineering methodology in product design. 4. Understand the relationship of the various planning practices of capacity planning, aggregate planning, materials planning and scheduling. 5. Obtain an understanding of quality management practice in organizations and how total quality management and six-sigma facilitate organizational effectiveness.
