ECET 21401 - Introduction To Electricity And Electronics


Credit Hours: 3.00. This course is an introduction to the basics of electricity and electronics. Emphasis is on application of theory for the non-ECET student. The course covers basic AC & DC Circuit Analysis; Electrical and Electronic components, their characteristics and applications: Analog and digital circuits, motors and controls will also be covered in this course. Typically offered Fall.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Develop a comprehensive knowledge of electrical and electronics fundamentals. 2. Select and operate test equipment to monitor electric parameters. 3. Understand and use Ohm’s Law, energy, work and power. 4. Describe basic semiconductors and applications thereof. 5. Project a comprehensive fundamental understanding of the basics of electrical safety and installation techniques. 6. Demonstrate knowledge and applications of Impedance and Reactance. 7. Describe basic semiconductors and applications thereof. 8. Demonstrate basic knowledge and applications of DC and 3-phase power and motor control.
