ITS 35200 - Disaster Recovery And Planning


Prerequisite(s): ITS 25000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C

Credit Hours: 3.00. Cybersecurity And Risk Management. This course covers cybersecurity and risk management knowledge, skills, and practices. Topics include cybersecurity law and ethics, security policy and program development, disaster recovery and business continuity, risk identification, analysis, and controls, security models and protection mechanisms, as well as security management practices.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Develop and implement plans to collect risk assessment data, inventory, and document business processes. 2. Identify and categorize threats and vulnerabilities, measure and quantify threats, compile risk assessment reports. 3. Identify and control risks associated with disasters or disruptions and specify key mitigation strategies, including assets inventory, threat and vulnerability analysis, legal liabilities, risk assessment, cost benefit analysis. 4. Assess the impactful elements contributing to the cost of an organization’s security management and operations process and their relation to risks and losses associated with information assurance or security related issues and incidents. 5. Develop and evaluate security standards, policies and practices that are relevant to safeguarding an organization’s information assets. 6. Identify the functional components of an information security program, determine how to plan and staff an organization’s information security program, and evaluate the internal and external factors that influence the activities and organization of an information security program, and the components of a security education, training, and awareness program. 7. Comprehend the principles of disaster recovery planning and create business continuity and disaster recovery plans and procedures.
