MA 26400 - Differential Equations Prerequisite(s): MA 26100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- (MAY BE TAKEN CONCURRENTLY)
Credit Hours: 3.00. A first course in ordinary differential equations. First order differential equations, linear and nonlinear systems of differential equations, and second order differential equations. Not open to students with credit in MA 26200. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Classify differential equations by order, linearity, and homogeneity.
2. Solve certain classes of first order ODEs (separable, linear, exact, homogeneous, Bernoulli, and equations with linear coefficients).
3. Solve second and higher order ODEs with constant coefficients.
4. Solve differential equations numerically using Euler’s method.
5. Use direction fields/phase plane for qualitative analysis of the integral curves (it may include equilibrium solutions and their classifications).
