Credit Hours: 3.00. This is an algebra review course for students not prepared for MA 15200, 15300, or 15900. Topics covered: real numbers, linear functions, solving linear equations and systems of linear equations, absolute value equations and inequalities, rational expressions, complex numbers, proportions, solving quadratic equations. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Use qualitative graphs to describe situations.
2. Graph linear equations.
3. Find the slope of a line.
4. Interpret the meaning of slope for equations, graphs, and tables.
5. Find and use linear equations.
6. Identify linear functions.
7. Use function notation to make predictions.
8. Interpret and apply slope as a rate of change.
9. Use graphs, tables, substitution, and elimination to solve systems.
10. Use linear inequalities in one variable to make predictions.
11. Apply properties of exponents.
12. Simplify expressions that have rational exponents.
13. Add, subtract and multiply polynomial expressions and functions.
14. Factor trinomials of the form x2 + bx + c; factor out the GCF.
15. Factor polynomials and special binomials.
16. Use factoring to solve polynomial equations.
17. Solve quadratic equations by using the square root property and by completing the square.
18. Find the domains of rational functions and simplify rational expressions.
19. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational expressions.
20. Solve rational equations.
21. Simplify radical expressions.
22. Add, subtract, and multiply radical expressions.
23. Solve radical equations.
