BIOL 40200 - Biogeography Prerequisite(s): BIOL 28600 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D-
Credit Hours: 3.00. This course will provide students with a broad perspective of world-wide distribution of organisms over space and time. Students will discuss observed distribution patterns of select species, genera, families, and other groups. Biogeography is a highly integrative science that draws on information from many fields including ecology, taxonomy, geological history, and evolutionary biology. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1) Expose students to plant and animal distributions on a world-wide scale.2) Explain the reasons behind global distribution of plants and animals, and discuss these observations.3) Integrate and reinforce concepts from multiple lower division courses.
