BIOL 30700 - Plant Physiology Prerequisite(s): BIOL 10100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- AND BIOL 10200 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C-
Credit Hours: 3.00. This is an intermediate-level course in plant biology. Understanding of basic concepts in biology is required. Topics may include but are not limited to plant cells, genome, gene expression, water transport, solute translocation, photosynthesis, carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolisms, nutrient assimilation, plant growth, hormones, flowering and defense. Applications to agriculture, biotechnology, ecology, forestry and other related areas will also be included. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Explain the drug design and evaluation process.2. Describe the modes of drug delivery and physiological processing of a drug.3. Describe how each disease state relates to a disruption of homeostasis and normal physiological function.4. Differentiate between various disease states at the cellular and system level.5. Examine the mechanism of action of common drugs and possible side effects related to the mechanism of action.6. Compare common drugs (pharmacological agents) classes utilized to treat each disease states.
