IHH 35300 - Health Informatics Credit Hours: 3.00. (NUR 35300) The course acts as a foundation for applying information technology in healthcare. It provides an up-to-date overview of the key issues related to adoption and use of information technology and health informatics. Emphasis is placed on the context of strategic planning for information technology in healthcare, Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Health Information Exchange (HIEs), usability, and using informatics in patients’ education. Connected healthcare through Telehealth and Technology-Enabled Healthcare are also discussed. General Education: Technology Course Learning Outcomes 1. Identify the legal and ethical implications of health care informatics.
2. Provide examples of how technology and information management are related to the quality and safety of patient care.
3. Discuss current trends in health care informatics.
4. Recognize communication technologies used in health care.
5. Describe the use of information management tools to monitor health care outcomes.
