PSY 24000 - Introduction To Social Psychology


Prerequisite(s): PSY 12000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C-

Credit Hours: 3.00. Not open to students with credit in SOC 34000. A broad survey in current knowledge about human social behavior. Topics covered include aggression, attraction and love, social influence, attitudes and attitude change, nonverbal communication, leadership, prejudice and discrimination, and application of social psychology to law, medicine, and other fields. Course Learning Outcomes
1.  Describe social psychology’s content domains, key concepts, and overarching themes, and explain how social psychologists study behavior.
2.  Compare and contrast theoretical perspectives and methodologies used to test hypotheses in social psychology.
3.  Interpret findings from social psychological research critically.
4.  Apply knowledge of social psychology to real-world issues and personal experiences.
