Credit Hours: 3.00. This class provides an introduction to the basic concepts in family law including formal and common-law marriage, domestic violence, dissolution and property distribution, child custody and the parent-child relationship. Focus will be on Indiana law and procedures. Typically offered Fall Spring, Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand basic concepts and terminology in family law.2. Demonstrate comprehension of relevant appeals decisions and statutory regulations regarding family law, with a focus on law of Indiana.3. Perform basic legal research.4. Apply these concepts and legal regulations and research to specific cases arising under Indiana law.
