Credit Hours: 3.00. Study of the two branches of criminal law: procedural and substantive law. The course focuses on the application of substantive criminal law in relation to crimes against people, persons, habitation, property, and public order. Elements of criminal liability, defenses to criminal liability, the doctrine of complicity, and inchoate crimes are also examined in the course. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Identify the laws that relate to different criminal activities in the U.S.
2. Differentiate between the roles that the two branches of criminal law play in response to criminal activity.
3. Define key legal responses to criminal activity in the U.S.
