ECE 50700 - Introduction To Biomedical Imaging Credit Hours: 3.00. This course covers the major aspects of modern medical imaging systems including x-ray imaging computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound imaging, single-photon emission tomography and positron emission tomography. The main emphasis is to explain and exam the fundamental physics and engineering underlying each imaging modality, and the image acquisition, reconstruction and artifact correction. Students will gain technical knowledge and an overview of current status of medical imaging technologies. The course is aimed primarily to graduate students specializing in interdisciplinary engineering. Prerequisite: college level physics, signals and systems, and programming experience in MatLab or C. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer.
