About the Program


We live in a visual society.  The concentration in Visual Communication gives students the opportunity to explore a visual world.  Visual Communicators combine words, images and ideas in original ways to convey information.  The concentration emphasizes real-world problem solving, contemporary creative thinking, design methodology, technique and skill development, industry standard computer technology, and practical ability.

Degree Requirements


  • 120 Credit Hours
  • Minimum grade of B required for the following courses: AD 10500, AD 10600, AD 11300, AD 30102; Minimum grade of C required for the following courses: AD 11200, AD 20400, AD 22200, AD 32800, AD 32900, AD 40300, AD 44800, AD 44900, CGT 21600, CGT 35300, COM 10300, COM 11400, COM 20400, COM 25000, COM 30900
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 required for graduation
  • Certain courses may only be available at one campus location

Experiential Learning (EL):  One EL course required.  EL courses are noted by (e) next to the course title.

Additional Information and Guidelines


Note 1: Freshman seminar requirement also met with any other PPNW Freshman Seminar course from 1-3 credit hours.

Note 2: Modern Language Requirement, must complete 4 semesters of the same language - Choose from ASL, FR, GER, JPNS, or SPAN

Note 3: Communication Elective: Any upper division COM or AD courses (30000 or above) can be used toward the Communication Elective.

Note 4: Course changes are pending for CGT 21600 and CGT 35300. CGT 21600 will have the AD subject code with the title of Digital Imaging II. CGT 35300 will have the AD subject with the title of Motion Graphics.
