Admissions Requirements
Student applicants will apply for admission to the History BA/MA 4+1 in the second semester of their junior year, and must be History BA majors and meet MA program requirements for admission. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA and those with a sub-3.0 GPA must complete and submit GRE scores to the HPPE department for consideration. Applicants should also submit three letters of recommendation, a 300-500 word statement of purpose on why they wish to complete the 4+1 program, official undergraduate transcripts, as well as complete the online application form. Degree Requirements
Students will complete 12 graduate credits (four courses) their senior undergraduate year – counting also as 12 credits towards their 120-credit History BA – and earning a B or better in each graduate class and maintaining an overall 3.0 GPA. In their fifth year, they will complete the final 18 graduate credits and decide upon comprehensive exams or a research thesis/defense to complete their studies. Upon earning 30 graduate credits and passing comprehensive exams/successfully defending the thesis, student will be granted the History MA. |
